WAVE RIDING + SKILL DEVELOPMENT

COST: $250.00

1 ½ Hour 1 On 1 Surf Lesson

Participants progress to riding waves with the assistance of instructors or trained volunteers. Water safety personnel may be required depending on the athletes size and abilities.

This involves:

  • Water Entry and Safety: Participants learn how to safely enter the water and navigate the surf zone while wearing appropriate safety gear such as life vests.

  • Board Handling: Participants become familiar with surfboards, including how to carry them, lie on them, and paddle in prone positions.

  • Balance and Body Positioning: Special attention is given to teaching participants how to maintain balance on the board and practice body positioning for stability.

  • Wave Selection: Instructors choose appropriate waves based on participants' skill levels and provide guidance on when and how to catch them.

  • Surfing Techniques: Participants are taught surfing techniques tailored to their abilities, which may include paddling into waves, riding prone, sitting, or even attempting to stand on the board if feasible.

  • Progressive Challenges: Participants gradually tackle more challenging waves as they gain confidence and competence in riding smaller ones.

Flow Surf Academy is a vendor with the Tri-Counties Regional Center (ZT0177), offering additional options for participants. If interested, please contact your service coordinator for more details.
